Playtesting and Users feedback

Milestone Programming Production
With all the mechanics that could be implemented within the time limit in place, it was time to build another release and test it. This time, the test would be open to external participants to ensure the quality of the product and verify that the objectives were met.
However, as this game involved face recognition and required storing pictures of participants’ faces, it was mandatory to create a participant form. This form ensured that participants were willing to take part, understood the process, and could stop at any time if they felt uncomfortable with the face detection.
After the playtesting feedback, users were asked to fill out a separate form that included specific questions on how well the aims were met. Since some of these responses are personal and could identify the person giving feedback, they will not be included in this post and will only be used in the project report.
It was noted that the majority of playtesters enjoyed most of the features added to the game, as well as the innovative aspect. They agreed that overall the features could strengthen the bond between the critter and the player. However, many users felt that the QR code logic was slow and irrelevant, to the point of breaking the sense of immersion and undermining the project’s aim.
With all the feedback received, a new build of the game was created and used to film a video report showcasing all the relevant features. It can be watched below.
