On the 2nd of August 2025, I began constructing the Hologram device at the South London Makerspace (https://southlondonmakerspace.org/). The facility provided an excellent environment for this work, offering access to essential equipment such as a soldering machine and a 3D printer, the latter being particularly valuable for producing the custom components required for the device.
This workspace was recommended by my mentor, "Billy Wood", whom I met through Kingston University’s Beyond Barriers mentoring programme. His guidance proved invaluable, particularly in supporting the soldering and assembly of the device. Unfortunately, despite our efforts, the construction could not be completed within the available timeframe.
As shown in the picture above, by the end of the day we had successfully constructed most of the rotating component of the hologram. This included attaching the LED lights to the board and fitting the motor that would drive the rotation. In addition, all required components were 3D printed. However, the assembly process proved to be more complex than initially anticipated, and it was not possible to secure another booking at the Makerspace before the project deadline to complete the build.
For this reason, although disappointing, this feature of the project had to be postponed for future development. The focus was instead placed on refining the existing features and ensuring that the game would feel complete and polished by the deadline.
